i know what.. when i was on the way to watch the theater last sat, I passed by an Indian Temple.. I saw lots of Hindus throwing coconuts on the street... How did you celebrate Ganesh festival over there...
drama diva : Everyone gets Ganesh idol home along with fruits, flowers, leaves. Offers some sweets prepared from rice. Performs Puja and reads the story of Ganesha and then have a little of the mixture of rice and turmeric powder on their head. After everything is done, we immerse Ganesh idol on the same day or on 3rd, 5th,....11th day in water. Since I had no option of getting Ganesh Idol over here(Cincinnati, US), I prepared it myself with Rice flour and turmeric powder with kumkum applied. I think in temples too, there will be space given to break the coconuts instead on the streets...... If any more, you want to know, do ask me. :)
