The Eight rules to effective speaking set by David Brooks, a well renowned trainer:

1. The audience is not the enemy.
2. To determine what you want the audience to think, feel or do.
3. To write your speech word for word, so that more topics could be effectively covered in a short speech.
4. To bring life to your words with colourful images and examples.
5. To make a point and tell a story, which can change the way you speak.
6. Happiness, sadness, anger, surprise, disgust and fear are the emotions which will help to connect with the audience.
7. Don't underestimate the power of laughter, as it relaxes the body.
8. Don't tell us, take us.

He also says, "A speech should inform, persuade, inspire and entertain the audience".

I found this article interesting might be, coz I too at time, was a trainer... :)

For any person to move on with this life on right track, Self Realization is a must. And that's the ultimate reason for our existence. Else, we will just lose our identity by losing ourselves. So, we need to analyze, and if any, correct our SELF.

But now, how many of us realize our mistakes? If, we do, why do we still repeat the same? Why is this recurring? The reason behind this can be, not taking things seriously, unnecessary expectations, misconceptions, negative emotions and our reactions towards a situation. But, if they become giant, can we face ourselves? Not easy, right.

So, we all need to work on knowing ourselves the better way by realizing our mistakes with no recurrence. Then the power of our inner soul will come into existence due to it's connection with SELF. And, that is what, all we are.
